Good post by Richard MacManus on Read/WriteWeb on the main web technology trends in 2006. I like his list. As one of the commenters says he would like to add the emergence and adoption of virual worlds to the list. Agree on that one. I think two other trends should also be on the list:
- Online music is general is taking off. I do not know any figures but I feel services such as Last.fm, Pandora and Rhapsody are going to change music consumption worldwide.
- The trend of “Brand You” is leading people to want to control their online identity. I have written about that earlier. It leads to a number of new services such as The Internet Address Book, Ziki, claimID, Contactlink and others.
