Google launched MyMaps today. It lets you create and share personalized maps based on the Google Maps API. You can make drawings and annotations on the map and even add video using HTML. You can decide to make the results public or private for their search. Check the example I made.


Om Malik talks about the notion that when digital content will explode in the future context will be key. Especially for local search. Maps are one tool that enables people to deliver this context. Good to know that Google still needs me to do this for them 😉

I also see value in the following aspect of MyMaps: that of displaying who you are and what you care about. Yes, good oll’ identity again.
