I blogged about my search for an online backup service a month ago. Yesterday I subscribed to Carbonite for a year because a number of tests (Dutch only) I read ranked it as one of the most user friendly services.
And my experience up until now confirms their view. You only have to download a small installer, run it and then you’ll be asked if you want to backup all your documents and desktop. Off course, you can modify this suggested backup behaviour if you want. Using a 2 Mbit DSL connection, the service fully backed up 6 GB of data – excluding music, photo and video – only 8 hours later.
The service integrates nicely with Windows Explorer using red or green dots on the file or folder to indicate if a file has been backed up. Really easy!
